CATIC approves AI-powered title search platform for North Carolina
Connecticut Attorneys Title Insurance Company (CATIC) has approved Dono’s automated title search system for use by attorneys in North Carolina, the companies announced Thursday.
The decision provides hold harmless protection against errors or claims when attorneys use the platform — a first for artificial intelligence (AI)-powered title searching in the state, leaders said.
“The market demand for automated title search solutions in North Carolina has been unmistakable, but we needed to see both accuracy and accountability,” said Jim Czapiga, CEO of CATIC. “Dono’s platform delivers exceptional data quality while providing the transparency and control our attorney partners require. Their comprehensive visibility into search processes gives us the confidence to provide full hold harmless coverage.
This represents the evolution of title searching — faster, more accurate, and fully controllable.”
The approval follows testing of Dono’s data quality and processes after several North Carolina law firms used the system. Rhythmic Title helped launch the technology in the state and assisted with attorney adoption.
Dono’s system compiles deeds, liens and tax data from VCAP, Odyssey and county records, among other sources.
The company says the process reduces search time from days to hours while preserving documentation, including screenshots of all index searches and the ability to re-run orders with modified names or date ranges.
“CATIC’s approval validates that AI can enhance rather than obscure the legal process,” said Tali Gross, CEO of Dono. “Our platform ensures attorneys maintain complete control — from reviewing search parameters to instantly ordering updates when new information surfaces.”
